The year was 2008. There was a lead guy and, alongside him, a female vocalist/keyboardist in town. They were also supported by a husband and wife team, the Wees, who’d help to transport all sorts of gear – to and from the Mitchells’ residence. Their first “gig” was in a studio at Civil Service College.
No, this was not a garage band, but the humble beginnings of Redemption Hill Church – planted by Simon and Tarryn Murphy, with 2 young children in tow, just barely three months after touching down from South Africa.
At RHC, we are driven by a vision to see Asia renewed. We are passionate about seeing the gospel not only transform our own lives, but also reach new people. And we believe that one of the best ways to do this is by planting churches.
We’ve invited Simon and Tarryn to come share with us their church-planting journey from all those years ago. Whether you’re new to church or have been with us for years, this is a story that will encourage and inspire. Come hear the Murphys as a family talk about their hopes, dreams, pains and challenges – and appreciate God’s kindness and faithfulness through it all. There will also be time for Q&A. All are welcome!
